2023 "Human and Nature" Zhengzhou Art Exhibition of Chinese and Foreign Sculpture Contribution Invited

A. BACKGROUND

Zhengzhou is an important birthplace of Chinese civilization and a renowned national historical and cultural city. This land carries a vast number of cultural relics, which have been passed down for thousands of years and are endless.

Zhengzhou Sculpture Park is part and parcel of the ecological corridor in the western part of Zhengzhou''''''''s central urban area, with a total area of 35 hectares. In 2017, Zhengzhou Municipal People''''''''s Government and China Sculpture Institute signed the "Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement on "Human and Nature" China·Zhengzhou International Sculpture Exhibition". Through the successful holding of three rounds of sculpture exhibitions in 2018, 2019, and 2020, 110 outdoor sculptures have been completed for Zhengzhou Sculpture Park and public space, condensing the ecological power and creating a harmonious coexistence between art and nature.

In 2023, Zhengzhou Municipal People''''''''s Government will cooperate deeply with China Sculpture Institute to hold the 2023 "Human and Nature" Zhengzhou Art Exhibition of Chinese and Foreign Sculpture, using the exhibition as an important platform to collect more excellent sculptures for Zhengzhou Sculpture Park, practice the concept of "lucid waters and lush mountains are golden mountains and silver mountains", and promote urban sustainability.

B. EXHIBITION THEME

The theme of the exhibition is "Human and Nature".

Zhengzhou, as one of the cradles of Central Plains culture and Chinese civilization, bears a splendid and time-honored culture. It has the ancient and modern culture coherence and distinct regional characteristics, and always pays attention to the relationship between human and nature and their highly harmonious coexistence.

This exhibition will continue to explore the integration, ecology, and sustainability of cultural development in the context of the Central Plains region; the development of traditional and contemporary ecological civilization; the relationship between human and nature; and building a bridge of communication with artistic language.

The past three exhibitions have given some interpretations of the theme "Human and Nature." On the basis of the artistic atmosphere laid by the previous exhibitions, the exhibition will continue to express the present moment, focus on the vision of Zhengzhou with full artistic expression, and shape the urban character of Zhengzhou.

The 2023 "Human and Nature" Zhengzhou Art Exhibition of Chinese and Foreign Sculpture will be opened here, calling for artists at home and abroad. A total amount of seven outdoor sculptures (including one specially invited work) is expected to be completed for this exhibition. It is hoped that with the joint efforts of sculptors, the public, institutions, and the government, we will create more fine sculptures for Zhengzhou and make the foresight of outdoor sculpture into a strategic vision for the sustainable cultural development of Zhengzhou.
